This past Saturday, April 6, I was promoted to blue belt at Gracie Barra Ahwatukee by my professor, Luis Friere. I was promoted alongside many other new blue belts, and I feel very honored to stand among them.
It was a long year and five months as a white belt, with some successes (three out of four finals appearances in tournaments, one of those being a gold medal) and numerous injuries (both knees sprained at different times, separated ribs and cracked costal cartilage, and a sprained wrist). But I’m proud to say I never missed a day of work due to injury!
This jiu jitsu journey is an endless one, but I’m proud of where I’m at and excited for where I’m going!
